Media and speaking

How we can help

Our founder Jane Shaw is a former journalist and PR, and understands what the media need from a commentator. She's the author of Things are going to be different now - a practical, reassuring and surprising book for families navigating lockdown, isolation and home schooling. Jane will discuss:

  • reasons and solutions for poor childhood/adolescent mental health
  • reasons for poor mental health and unhappiness in adults
  • impact of helicopter parenting, lack of unstructured play, cross-age play and outdoor time
  • the essential role of play in development and learning
  • loneliness
  • the role of education on children's poor mental health - eg the negative effects of 'too much too young', summerborn children, reward systems and 'behaviour management'
  • alternative approaches eg flexi-schooling and the rise of home education
  • how 'simple living', minimalism and having less 'stuff' makes you happier.

If we do not believe Jane is the best person to respond to your request, we will put you in touch with of a member of your network who is better qualified to comment.
